This is a 16-hour course with mandatory live-fire range training.
PART-I: In-Person Classroom (9:00am - 7:00pm)
Objectives:
- Firearm Safety & Storage
- Pistol Parts, Operation & Maintenance
- Basics of Pistol Shooting
- Concealed Carry Fundamentals
- Situational Awareness & Conflict Avoidance
- The Ethical Decision to Use Deadly Force
PART-II: Instructor-Led Virtual Classroom (9:00am - 1:00pm)
Objectives:
- State Laws on Firearms and Self-Defense
- Permit Application Guidance
PART III: Live-Fire Range Training and Qualification
Objectives:
- Demonstrate competency and safety in handling a firearm
- Shooting qualification of fifty rounds of ammunition from a maximum distance of fifteen yards, and receiving a qualifying score of at least 70%
Participants will receive a link after registration to schedule their one-on-one range qualification for a convenient day and time. Usually Monday, Friday and Saturday.

DMV CARRY’s DC CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSE Training Course is conducted by NRA and USCCA Certified Instructors who have been approved by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police to conduct and certify their firearms training curriculum.
Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive training completion certifications for:
1 – District of Columbia Concealed Carry Pistol License
2 - NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Completion Certificate

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Handbook (provided)
Pen and paper
Required Range Gear:
Pistol with at least one magazine (rentals available)
Hearing and eye protection
Range appropriate clothing
Ammunition: 50 rounds FMJ
There will be NO LIVE AMMUNITION allowed during the classroom portion of training.
Handguns are available to use for qualification if you do not own one. If you do have your own firearm, you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring it.
Exact classroom location will be released to registered participants only.
A link to schedule one-on-one range training and qualification will be sent after registration.
Fingerprints and state application fees are not included in class price.
You must be 21+ and legally able to possess a firearm with valid government photo ID to attend this course.
