Certified Illinois Concealed Carry Firearms Instructors lead DMV CARRY's IL Concealed Carry License (CCL) Course, which covers a comprehensive 16-hour curriculum.  This course is specifically designed to provide students with the essential knowledge needed to apply for their IL CCL.

This curriculum is approved and instructed by Illinois State Police approved instructors.

You may be exempt for up to 8-hours of the required training with documentation of prior in-person NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course completion, are an active, retired or honorably discharged member of the US Armed Forces, or previously qualified law enforcement or corrections officer.

PART-I: 9:00am - 7:00pm

  • Firearms Safety

  • Basic Principles of Marksmanship

  • Care, Cleaning, Loading and Unloading of a Concealable Firearm

 PART-II: Friday - 12:00pm - 5:00pm

  • Applicable State and Federal Laws Relating to the Ownership, Storage, Carry and Transportation of a Firearm

  • Weapon Handling & Live Fire Qualification
    Live fire qualification must be with a concealable firearm consisting of minimum of 30 rounds which must include 10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards; 10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and 10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target.

 

Upon successful completion of this course, student will receive

 1 – IL State Police Concealed Carry Firearm Training Certificate

 

 NON-RESIDENTS – APPLICATION CHECKLIST

 In accordance with 430 ILCS 66/40 (b), out of state residents may be eligible for an Illinois Concealed Carry License if your state meets the definition of substantially similar as established by the Act.

 Other requirements if your state meets the substantially similarly definition:

  • 16 hours of concealed carry firearms training provided by an ISP approved instructor

  • An electronic copy of a valid concealed carry license from your home state

  • Electronic copy of training certificate(s)

  • A head and shoulder electronic photograph taken within the last 30 days

  • An Illinois State Police user ID and password

  • A valid driver’s license or state identification card

  • Provide the last ten years of residency

  • A notarized affidavit documenting the applicant’s eligibility under both state and federal laws, the understanding of the laws pertaining to possession and transport of firearms, acknowledgment the applicant is subject to the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police and the Illinois courts and that the applicant meets the mental health standards in Illinois to obtain a firearm

  • $300.00 application fee payable with a credit card or electronic check

Fingerprints must be taken from an approved IL live-scan fingerprint vendor. Applications submitted without live-scan fingerprints are subject to an additional 30-day permit processing time.

  • Range Gear:

    • Pistol with at least two magazines

    • Hearing and eye protection

    • Range appropriate clothing

    • Ammunition: 30+ rounds FMJ

There will be NO LIVE AMMUNITION allowed during the classroom portion of training.

State application fees are not included in class price. 

You must be 21+ and legally able to possess a firearm with valid government photo ID to attend this course.
